Staggered Starting Times

The Salado Creek Greenway is a public trail and is required to stay open (per City of San Antonio) during our event.  Other runners and bikers will be on the trail and we will need to share it responsibly.

To alleviate congestion on the trail, we will have a staggered start.  At the start of the race, we will have a 3-5 second gap between runners.  If you have a running partner, we will accommodate starting together. The Half Marathon will begin at 7:30am, the 10k will begin at 7:35am and the 5k will begin at 7:40am.  The event will be chip timed, so your time will begin when you cross the starting line.

Please follow trail etiquette and keep to the right of the trail.  Doing so allows for two-way traffic.  You can run side by side, however please use trail courtesy and allow runners to pass you on the left. You may need to run single file at times to allow people to pass you.  By following proper trail etiquette, the race will go smoothly for everyone on the trail and we will have a great time.  We appreciate your support with this.

Race Course

Salado Creek Greenway South Trailhead
Southside Lions Park East

4600 Pecan Valley Dr
San Antonio, TX 78223

Parking: There are several parking spaces around the Salado Creek Greenway Trailhead and throughout Southside Lions Park.  We recommend you coming out early to get a close spot!  The event will begin at 7:30am with that half marathon participants starting first, then the 10k participants, followed by the 5k participants.

Aid Stations

We will have six Aid Stations on the course. Each station will have water and Gatorade. The 5k participants will have two aid stations, the 10k participants will have four aid stations and the half marathon participants will have six aid stations.

Each distance will have awards for the top 3 overall men and women finishers.  For the half marathon, we will have an award for first place men and women for each of the following age groups: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+

Weather Conditions

San Antonio is known for it’s heat and humidity. Even though its early April, it has the potential to be extremely hot on race day.  Even though we will have water and electrolytes available on course, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring another source of hydration. Backpacks, belts and handhelds are all easy to carry and can help prevent heat related issues.  It is everyone’s responsibility to be smart and know their own ability and limit.

We will host the event in the rain, however the only potential race concern would be nearby lightning. That will be a race time decision made by the race director.

***The Salado Creek Greenway follows the Salado Creek bed on and off throughout the course.  If rain falls, there could be potential for standing puddles or slight flooding.  Please use common sense when approaching these areas.***
